Here is a picture of me working. Yes, it does happen!Lysander - elevationHello,
Welcome to this little web site where I recorded building my boat.
The boat is a Lysander (see picture on the left) and I made it from plans purchased from the Lysander owners association. You can see more about this type of boat at the www.lysander.org.uk web site where you will also find pictures of member's boats.

If you want to contact me about anything on this site I will be happy to answer any questions, and to clarify or expand upon any points about the construction. Just click here and fill in the form.

Joe's boat - Dec 07

After being 4 years in the making the boat finally hit the water early in 2008. Needless to say the 4 years was not devoted entirely to boat building! Amongst other things we moved house during this time. Although the boat is completed I am sure that I'll keep making improvements to it all the time. The picture on the right was taken recently and shows the boat sailing. The raised part of the cabin roof is not on the original plans for the Lysander but is my contrivance to gain more headroom in the cabin, and it does make the inside of the cabin much higher and more comfortable where it is most needed. I am not totally pleased with the appearance of it, I think it would have looked better with sloping sides as well as a sloping front, but I don't think it looks postitively ugly.

The links to the left, Frame, Skin, Keels, etc. will take you to pages dealing with all aspects of the construction. I hope you enjoy looking and reading.
